Captain Birdseye R.I.P.

There were a few adverts as a child that were particularly memorable Cadbury's Finger of Fudge, Clarks 'Magic' Shoes and Nestle Milkybar....the Aero Bubbles ad with the guy in a towel (okay so the last one is a little less twenty years ago and a little more last week).....One other was Birdseye's Fish Fingers due to the 'Father Christmas' type Captain Birdseye and his motley crew of kids sailing in exotic lands sustained by breaded fish.....Well Captain Birdseye passed away today, so in dedication....a couple of adverts:

Course the advertisers may go back to the younger Captain Birdseye...you remember the one with the designer stubble and a glint in his eye who put in an appearence a few years back.

Oh, and for those wondering:

OK, we obviously don't have the same commercials. Which usually wouldn't bother me, except - I want a towel guy! We have 156,000 channels over here, and he's not on one of them! I know, I checked. He's not even on our BBC America channel.

I guess I'll have to console myself with the knowledge that we get SGA before you guys do (OOOHHH, the things I could tell you about Beckett and McKay in season 4 ;) Of course, I say that while we're still *waiting* for Robin Hood to start over here.

Ahh, well I have found out that "towel guy" is none other than Jason Lewis of Sex in the City fame....In which no doubt he is at some point towel-less!!

And you may get SGA before us, but thank the lord for the internet and the ability to download.....else I would have to wait for the dvd release.

Second series of Robin Hood was fab....quite a shocker in the finale but I'll leave that for you to find out....I actually wrote my final dissertation on the TV series of Robin Hood...I'll always be a Robin of Sherwood gal.

Just getting to the series finale of Torchwood over here...don't know if you watch....which has been awesome, and the new series of Doctor Who starts very soon....which is all filling the SGA gap!!!

I'm not a Sex in the City fan - I'm one of the few people that don't get the appeal of that show. I guess if I want my fix of towel guy I can just see him here ;)

And once again I found out that you got college credit for writing about an awsome show! If I ever figure out what I want to be when I grow up and go back to college, I'm gonna pick your brain for cool ideas for papers!

I stumbled onto Torchwood, but missed the beginning (which I hate to do). Luckily Netflix has it, so it's on it's way! As for Robin Hood and Dr. Who - you'd think with technology as it is today, they'd figure out how to broadcast them here a little quicker than they do (and vice versa for SGA). 4months seems like quite a long wait for us fans!
