A Touch of Doctor Who Vampire Slayer?

Okay, so Matt Smith, aka the new Doctor, put in an appearance on Jonathan Ross Friday night.  He talked about the new series, without really talking about the new series....as they do, tight lipped kill joys that they are.  But they did show a clip from episode 6..looks like a certain trend is catching on:

Spring Clean

I spent the entire day washing, cleaning, dusting and generally having a proper spruce up session, long overdue I might add, of my bedroom....I even hoovered my bed and all of my pillows and can once again see that fabled thing called 'the floor'. Then in the evening I tripped over the one item I'd left on my floor and twisted my ankle, yes the same ankle...I know I suck.

On another note guess what's returning too the Beeb very soon indeed....quite excited

Happy New Year...It's not a holiday I tend to take much pleasure in celebrating...all a bit of a hoopla if you ask me..I did however ocme across this today and thought I'd share.



So, what do ya think? A more actiony Doctor? Daleks, Weeping Angels and River Song back for another bout? and was that a glimpse at the new T.A.R.D.I.S at 20 seconds?

How About a Touch of Festive Who

This has been showing regularly on the beeb and I think it's great, so I'm sharing the Tennant love:

Springtime Sickness

They say that things happen in threes and that certainly seemed to be the case recently in the house...I had a particularly un-fun filled week feeling all disorientated and hewy thanks to a inner ear virus, just as I put in a full recovery from that mum fell ill with a nasty bugger of a bug which produced much projectile vomiting (thank god the parentals have their own bathroom) and a trip out from the doctor when the sickness hadn't abated nearly 24hrs after it started...seriously, 20 plus Technicolour yawns in a day..... it's a family record (of which, due to being a rather sickly child...I hold most). Just as mother was returning to normal, nearly a week later and fast approaching the chocolate gorging festivities...poor old father succumbed to a completely unrelated bodily hissy, equally as uncomfortable and also needing a house call from...er....House.

So, in the space of a little under a month I think it's safe to say we've all used up our sniffly duvet day allowance...that is until I got out of bed this morning and appeared to have pulled a muscle in my back (yes again, and in the same place too) whilst taking part in the, oh so, strenuous activity of flushing the toilet.....merely a twinge at first before I walked home from my computer course, hoping the exercise would help....now I can't even put on my own slippers....grrrr arg!

Though on the plus side it's not like I have any pressing appointments or activities in my diary, such as a marathon, mountain trek or abseiling the Spinnaker Tower.....nope, not me.... I can't even reach across to my bedside table where my leftover Cadbury Easter egg is currently mocking me.

The day wasn't a complete loss however...on the walk back from town along the seafront, in the glorious sunny sunshine (I know it's almost becoming a heatwave...if you consider 16 degrees C warm enough to fall under the term 'heatwave') I witnessed a small child learn the hard way that pressing the 'on' button to a beach front shower thingy whilst standing directly under the nozzle leads to a drippy outfit and exasperated mother situation, though ultimately for those passersby baring witness it proved highly amusing.

In other news....The first of the Doctor Who specials was over the Easter weekend....the cast and crew went all the way to Dubai to find a desert to stick a red double decker bus in for the storyline. Overall it was a fair episode with several unnecessary characters and others perhaps needing some more screen time...namely the fly-like aliens. Like Michelle Ryan as the aristocrat thief and her Mary Poppin's like Bag-o-Stuff, could see her complementing the Matt Smith version of the Doctor but for now she's a interesting one off companion.....overall though I'm thinking the trip to the desert, the behind the scenes episode was almost more interesting than the episode itself due to the problems which occurred, was perhaps an indulgence of Russell T's which in retrospect would probably be better spent of the finale......next episode will air some when between September-November time and John Simm will most definitely be turning up in the Christmas finale according to sources.....a Master/ Doctor face off....nice.....And finally a taster of the next special:

Happy Days

There was definitely a sense of summer-ness in the air today...not a cloud in the sky this afternoon and the sea was dead calm as I walked along the front. Seasonal shops and promenade stalls were open and doing brisk business selling ice creams and there was even a (very small) fair and other attractions setting up along the front.....bouncy castles, boat swings, the BIG slide and "the Astroliner" (which I have never seen before along Bognor Prom and looks a bit tacky but it apparently promises to simulate an authentic 'lift off' into space....hmmmm, let's not and say we did)...So, anyway I love days like this and the weather man is even promising a run of this type of atmospheric lush-ness....for at least the next four days anyway, so I perhaps see a South Downs walk in my future, if I can get dad, aka taxi, to give me a lift up there.....I wanna see the lambs!

New Year, New Doctor

This is the face of the new Doctor...



A 26 year old relative unknown which is bound to cause some controversy and upset amongst the die hard fans of the series, and those of David Tennant also I'd wager.....I'm more interested in what the actor is going to bring to the role, half of the excitement of the regeneration is how the new invisionment is played....the look....the catchphrases....how Captain Jack will react.....And of course there's the other question of who is to play the next companion, personally I'd like to see a fella for a change.....Russell Tovey....


Who's an amazing actor, already appeared in an earlier Christmas special and cheekily cute, would be my first choice....but then I'm not in charge I am, phufft....the stories I could tell.

Doctor Who 4.12 - The Stolen Earth

By-crikey what a fabulously exciting episode of Doctor Who last night... (here be spoilers)

So, something's gone a bit awry on planet Earth....

But don't worry that bloke from Dempsey and Makepeace, UNIT and Martha Jones'll sort it.....

Ah, ok then.....not to worry....Torchwood will send the blaggards packing with tails between legs.....

Hmmmmmm......well obviously The Doctor is on the case and will swoop in to save the day any minute now.....

Huh.....well things couldn't possibly get any worse....

Right....well what's needed here is a cunning plan.....

And of course a dashing hero with a big.....er....gun.....

Right....so, showdown time....but hang on, everyone's looking a bit serious...

You know what Doctor....You were MY Doctor

In the depths of the cheesiest excuse for entertainment which is Children in Need this evening I was treated to 8 minutes of pure genius from the pen of Steven Moffat. I am of course talking about the one off special Doctor Who: Time Crash which aired this evening.

Not only following on directly from the end of the previous series but incorporating a double helping of Doctor madness. The incorrigibly delightful David Tennant was joined by Peter Davison complete with Cricket jacket and accessorized vegetable on his lapel for 8 minutes of screen gold.....so good in fact that I hopped straight over to the website to watch again to make sure I hadn't missed anything.....and basically bathe in every utterly brilliant second.

Fast paced and utterly ridiculous dialogue, with some special self aware moments from Mr. Tennant, since like myself Peter Davison was my Doctor, the pair avert the end of the universe via a paradoxical impossibility only manageable in the realm of the Who.

My To Do LIst

So, there I was watching an all time classic episode of Doctor Who, Doomsday....Daleks & Cybermen the ultimate 'ever-so-slightly' scary ensemble and a top episode which leaves me with a lump in my throat by the end, top musical score, top writing, top ending....but I digress....

So,like I said, there I was watching Doctor Who and I got to thinking...time and space travel...how cool would that be, that's something I'd like to do if and when it's possible...I mean where would you want to go and what would you want to do if you could do absolutely anything?

Then I figured, before I become the ultimate time traveller, there is still quite a bit I'd like to do/see round here first. So I thought I start making a list...so, in no particular order, a sample.

1. Go Tornado chasing

2. Climb a tree on a regular basis

3. Write a fantasy/sci fi book

4. Write a fantasy/sci fi script.

5. Milk a Cow

6. Live in Australia

7. Stand up on a surf board.

8. Take an adventure holiday and do all the activities at least once no matter how scary

9. Work in Film/TV as a researcher

10. Take part in a conservation project somewhere in the world, ie other than the UK

11. Ride a horse

12. Take up rock climbing

13. Watch sunrise from the top of Kingley Vale

14. Live on a desert Island and build a working Swiss Family Robinson style tree house

15. Read a book a week

Blink

So, did anyone notice something missing from tonight's Doctor Who...no? Neither did I, even though the Doctor and Martha were but fleeting in appearance, the episode has probably become one of my all time favourites.

All the essential elements were there: great acting, strong story, funny dialogue and truly 'soil your pants' scary monsters. What a fantastic concept; they are statues, they move when your not looking...so don't blink!

And just in case you were wondering, this applies to all statues...everywhere...behind you....be afraid!
